JAPAN SOCIETY TRYPTICH
In 2011, tragedy struck the people of Fukushima Japan after an earthquake triggered tsunami washed away most of the area. This event shocked myself and others into taking supportive action by means of a pop-up fundraiser/workshop that would help the people affected. In partnership with The Japan Society, the team lead a multi-disciplined workshop to raise funds that involved several artists including myself. A silent auction of the work also commenced during the opening night and was well received.
Originally, I created a replica Japanese flag made out of destroyed electronics that I had repurposed for the auction. I wanted to express the possibility of rebuilding something into beauty and thus this became the centerpiece for this triptych poster; a call to action used to inform others of the event. It was also awarded silver in the 2012 Creativity International competition.
